Dear Little Lucy:
(Advice Column for Animals)
Dear Little Lucy,
I am writing to you because I am concerned for my home. It is a simply built home here at Walden Pond but it is mine. My concerns is not for me but for the visitor who keeps sitting directly in front of my beautifully crafted mound of sticks and logs. I am no ordinary beaver. I appreciate nature and consider myself vegan. I only take the fallen logs and twigs the trees provide. Thus, I have taken great care in constructing my home. I frequently find the tranquility of my surroundings disturbed by a man called Thoreau. I hear from the deer that he is a writer. Well, I wish he would find some other rock around the pond to sit and ponder upon for hours. I watch him and have struck my tail several times as a warning for him to move to another area. His indifference irks. He simply smiles and continues to bury his head into his notebooks and papers. I am my whit’s end! I sometimes find my mind drifting and thinking about taking a bite out of his leg. I have not eaten of anything living in years! (I’m vegan remember!). What is a beaver to do? Please help. Any advice will do. Perhaps you, being a writer and poet could assist me in this matter and tell this Thoreau to sit somewhere else.
Beaver at Walden Pond
P.S. Personally, I am more a fan of Ralph Waldo Emerson. He is much more to the point than the idle ramblings of Thoreau. I mean, most of us have don’t have all day to wander the woods deep in thought. We must work and live in the real world. My only quiet escape was my home until he showed up one day!
Her response will appear in the next ebook!

My Love, My Chesed
Searching for the map of God
In the invisible fabric
That stretches between us
To remember and find
The creator, who holds
Help me to see you
In the crowded spaces
And in the songs of the nature
That I may once again
Know the hand
of my maker.
