Follow along as she answers a few questions about herself.
1. Can you share a little bit about yourself and your life?
I am a teacher, actor, published actor, speaker, and coach. My undergrad degree in in elementary education and am currently working on my masters in education K-12 through Bethel University. I enjoy being able to share my stories, pull out other' stories through my work as a teacher and actor to inspire other people. My two books are "I Choose Hope" and "Hope for Today" both stem from my company Renew Hope. I am currently looking for ways to get out the word of a 5 star fringe festival show of No Limits play. I teach acting and improv through various theatre companies.
2. How did you get into motivational speaking?
I got into motivational speaking by people encouraging me in my story, that I have a story, and a positive message that people need to hear. After several people encouraging me this, I decided that this is my calling to inspire others by using my gifts of speaking and sharing life into others.
3. What are the challenges as a female entrepreneur?
The greatest challenge of being a female entreprenuer is the amount of time it takes. You are constantly marketing yourself. Women I believe in general struggle in marketing themselves and this is a struggle for me as well. It is a 24/7 job and it is time consuming, however, I have met many awesome and inspiring people along the way to encourage me in this endeavor. Time and marketing is a big factor.
4. What advice would you give other women looking into becoming a speaker or coach? Do you have any tips for them when they get started?
My greatest advice is to NEVER GIVE UP! Dream big, be realistic, and set goals. I would also encourage yourself to surround yourself with good role models who will encourage and inspire you. Have a goal in mind. I get up every morning because of the people and lives I get to touch that day. It inspires me. Find a mentor to help pour into you. Find your message and brand and know who you are. Always learn and keep growing, you are always growing.
5. How did you overcome any challenges you faced?
I believe it is a process, so it is overcoming. We are never really done with it. I have faced many challenges both personally and professionally. I am overcoming them by taking one step at a time. What can I do today? What am I grateful for today in this day, in this moment? What step can I do to take the next step forward?
